COLORADO STATE LONG TERM CARE OMBUDSMAN PROGRAM LTCOP
Long-term care patient advocacy and problem resolution to residents of long-term care facilities.
8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, MST Monday to Friday
The Colorado State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program advocates for residents of skilled nursing homes and licensed assisted living residences. The authority of the program is derived from Title VII, Chapter 2, of the Older Americans Act, as well as Title 26, Article 11.5, of the Older Coloradans Act. The primary mission of the program is to promote and protect the rights of residents, ensuring that they are upheld under both federal and state law.
To fulfill this mission, the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program operates through a network of local offices across the state. These offices recruit, train, and manage teams of certified ombudsmen who are responsible for visiting long-term care facilities throughout Colorado. Ombudsmen, both staff and volunteers, ensure that residents’ rights are being respected and advocate on their behalf to address any issues that may arise within these facilities.
