CITY AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY

HSA’s Department of Disability and Aging Services (DAS) works to prevent and mitigate the abuse of older adults and individuals with disabilities by collaborating with community providers, City programs, and criminal justice agencies. The department directly responds to reports of suspected abuse submitted to its Adult Protective Services program, ensuring that concerns are addressed promptly and appropriately.
Additionally, DAS funds initiatives to engage and train community members and mandated reporters on how to recognize and report cases of suspected abuse. The department also funds and participates in the Elder Abuse Forensic Center, a multidisciplinary team of health, social services, legal, and criminal justice experts who work together to resolve complex abuse cases and ensure that justice is served for vulnerable populations.
